On January 16, the project implementation meeting took place in San Cristobal
Last Sunday, January 16, the implementation meeting of the project Por Una Vida Digna Integral Adolescentes Embarazadas San Cristóbal was held. The meeting, which was attended by members of the Coordinating Team and representatives of the social pastoral of all the parishes of the municipality, was held in the parish hall of Nuestra Señora de la Paz, in the morning hours.
Cruz María Echeverría, OAR, project advisor, gave a brief account of the development process of the pastoral initiative Por Una Vida Digna, from its beginnings in the municipality of Bajos de Haina, where it has been operating for more than two years, to its expansion to San Cristóbal. “We want to take it to the whole diocese”, remarked Fr. Cruz, who showed the office already equipped with the necessary computer equipment and furniture to start working.
Bajos de Haina as a reference point
Soon, those responsible for the project in San Cristóbal will visit the San Agustín Medical Dispensary to see how the program is being developed in Bajos de Haina, in order to have it as a reference.
Cruz also explained how the project is being managed in Bajos de Haina, where eighty young people are currently participating, receiving comprehensive medical attention and training in areas such as legal orientation. There are also plans to resume the accompaniment visits, which were suspended due to the pandemic.
Dr. Sandra Solano, who is in charge of the technical team, explained that the purpose of holding the meeting there is “to familiarize ourselves with the place, which will be the home of the project”. The Nuestra Señora de la Paz Medical Dispensary operates in this parish, next to whose facilities the office of Por Una Vida Digna has been set up. The doctor also presented the Operational Team, in charge of carrying out the management and reporting to ARCORES Dominicana regarding the progress and management of the project.
Monitoring young women
The secretary of the project, Ana José, presented, as a proposal, the forms for the beneficiaries to sign up, which include general data about the mother and the baby. Based on these forms, a follow-up file will be prepared.
The parishes associated with the project are Nuestra Señora de la Paz, Nuestra Señora de la Consolación, Santa Mónica, Santa Rita and Cristo Salvador. They are all located in the municipality of San Cristóbal.
