To increase community resilience to disasters
On the weekend of January 22 and 23, the ARCORES Philippines Palawan team carried out a training activity to increase the resilience of the population to climatic catastrophes, as part of the project to respond to those affected by Typhoon Odette. It was a training for the manufacture of solar lamps that was carried out with the Tagbanua indigenous community, affected by typhoon Rai (Odette).
Twelve young people from the Parish of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, of the Augustinian Recollects, participated in the program “ARCORES Green Education: Manufacture of Solar Lamps”.
The activity aims to distribute 100 solar lamps to the Tagbanua ethnic communities in Barangay Plaridel, Aborlan and Palawan. Fr. Vincent Cadeliña, OAR, one of the coordinators of ARCORES Philippines, explained how to build these solar lamps.
