An innovative ARCORES initiative to transform education in remote communities
In the remote waters of Palawan, Casian Island represents both the natural beauty of the Philippines and the educational challenges faced by thousands of isolated communities throughout the archipelago. Here, where traditional Filipino bancas navigate crystal-clear waters under blue skies, children at Calampisao Elementary School face a different reality: the lack of access to digital educational resources that are fundamental in the modern world.
The Challenge: A Deep Digital Divide
In communities like Sitio Calampisao, Taytay, Palawan, many elementary students grow up without access to the digital tools and learning resources that their peers in urban areas take for granted. This digital divide not only limits their access to information but compromises their preparation for an increasingly connected future.
“This isn’t just a matter of technology,” explains Fr. Kenneth Pahamuhtang, OAR, ARCORES Coordinator on Casian Island. “It’s a matter of educational equity and future opportunities for these children.”
ARCORES has developed an innovative solution that combines the best of traditional education with the possibilities of the digital world. The Island E-Library Internet Project is not simply a conventional library, but a dynamic learning center that integrates:
Physical and Digital Resources
A carefully selected collection of printed books
A robust e-learning platform with reliable internet access
Spaces designed to foster both individual and collaborative study
Transformative Objectives
Dedicated E-Learning Platform: Establishment of digital resources specifically adapted for elementary students
Replicable Model: Creation of a pilot project that can expand to other remote islands in the archipelago
Hybrid Library: Perfect integration between physical and virtual resources
This project represents much more than the installation of technological equipment. It’s about:
Digital Literacy: Preparing students for a digitalized world
Equal Opportunities: Ensuring that geographical location doesn’t determine access to quality education
Community Development: Creating a center that benefits the entire Casian community
How You Can Be Part of the Change
The realization of this project depends on the support of our international solidarity network. There are multiple ways to contribute:
🌐 Sustainable Connectivity
Become a monthly partner to guarantee continuous internet connection
💻 Equipment Donation
Contribute technological devices for the learning center
👨🎓 Student Sponsorship
Directly support a student’s education
🤝 Volunteering
Share your time and skills with the community
A Connected Future

The Island E-Library Internet Project is not just about technology; it’s about hope, opportunity, and the firm belief that every child, regardless of where they are born, deserves access to quality education.
