On March 30, Ángel Herrán OAR, president of ARCORES Perú, Roberto Armas OAR, Ángel Herrán OAR and Miguel Vega, project manager, inaugurated and blessed 71 improved kitchens in the rural community of El Arenal, in the district of Lajas.
Three years ago, the deputy mayor of the municipality, Fermín Núñez, submitted the application to the ARCORES Peru offices in the Santa Mónica de Chota parish. In 2022, and thanks to the funds raised in the Solidarity Heart Day 2021, the candidacy could be approved.
In November 2022, the project was presented to the community and work began, which was completed in mid-March. The iron plates were brought from Lima and the aluminum chimneys from Chiclayo.
Working together
At the inauguration, Vega explained to the people how to care for and maintain their stoves, as well as giving them information on healthy housing and health care.
For his part, Father Roberto urged them to work together and to continue making progress in their village. After him, the authorities of the municipality spoke, thanking ARCORES for the project that benefits this rural population. Finally, Father Ángel inaugurated the kitchens. The event ended with a community meal.
