It has been almost four years since Hurricane Otis hit the coast of Guerrero, leaving a trail of destruction and desolation in its wake.
In the midst of this difficult reality, families in Acapulco continue to struggle to recover from the devastation caused by the natural phenomenon.
Many homes remain damaged or destroyed, and basic services such as potable water and electricity continue to be scarce in some areas. Public infrastructure has been severely damaged.
Solidarity Hope
Solidarity becomes a ray of hope for the affected families. ARCORES Mexico, with the support of the Agustina-Recoleta Family in Mexico, has delivered 200 pantries to families in Acapulco.
The affected people gathered to receive the pantries, which included non-perishable food, personal hygiene products and other essential items.
The presence of Augustinian Recollect postulants, friars, volunteers and members of ARCORES Mexico provided a message of hope and solidarity to these communities still facing the ravages of the natural disaster.
Encounter
The visit to the communities of Icacos and the parish of San José not only represented an act of material delivery, but also a moment of encounter and emotional support for the affected families.
The work of ARCORES Mexico in Acapulco is an example of the networking of the Augustinian family. The need for support continues to be urgent. Many families in Acapulco still face difficult conditions and require help to rebuild their lives and communities.
In times of crisis, solidarity and commitment to the welfare of our fellow human beings are more important than ever.
