ARCORES launches Solar Dream Project among Tagbanua communities in Palawan

Solar Dream Project

Solar lighting kits

ARCORES Filipinas started distributing fifty solar lighting kits to the Tagbanua families in Aborlan and Brgy. Inagawan, and in Liminangcong, last February 28, 2022. The Tagbanua community in Palawan is part of the Recoletos parish community of San Rafael in Aborlan.

The ARCORES Solar Dream project aims to provide sustainable assistance to families displaced by natural and social disasters in far-flung communities by providing solar-lighting set for homes. Included in this project, is the program of empowerment where participatory workshops and skills training with young people and community leaders in solar assembly and maintenance are conducted.

Fray Vincent Cadeliña, the coordinator of the ARCORES Solar Dream project said: “this project will address the need of our indigenous families to have lighting facilities in their homes.” The technical training is conducted by Fray Roderick Deguit and Fray Vincent Cadeliña.

The solar lighting kit will afford decent living standard, providing light to children living in poor homes (improve their learning abilities), promoting grassroots response to affordable and clean energy, and encouraging grassroots climate action. The project is supported by ARCORES International in the area of ecological and climate action programs.
