Saint Augustine invites us to live from within, from the truth that dwells in our hearts. From there this great family has been walking and serving since 1963 in Costa Rica with projects such as:
Sarapiqui Mission,an evangelizing mission of humanitarian attention that attends to more than twenty small communities on the banks of the river and that are at social risk. The friars and committed lay people collaborate in the care of these people, from health to spiritual accompaniment and listening.
Hope Street, focused on listening and fraternity. This group of enthusiastic volunteers has been created who are in charge of giving attention to the most needy in a street situation, where thanks to donations they are given shelter and food. But they are also given a light of hope, where their humanity is embraced and listening to their stories and situations becomes a small but important gift for the soul.
Children's City cares for more than 500 adolescents who are selected from the most vulnerable areas of Costa Rica and, from the farm of more than 150 hectares, located in Agua Caliente de Cartago, care is provided in the most humane way possible, with "doñas" as they call them affectionately; who serve as surrogate mothers in their process that goes from seventh to twelfth year where they are later graduated with the degree of professional technician. Here all these young people receive clothing, food, education, personal training and spirituality from committed religious and laity who offer their efforts for their development.
Health Hopeis the name of the campaign that has joined forces to provide support to those affected by covid-19 in the areas of Santa Ana, San José, Belén, Sarapiquí and others. Through hard work collecting donations and logistical coordination for the creation of food and clothing packages that were distributed to selected families, we joined forces and brought hope in times of uncertainty. All this work was carried out in collaboration with the Parish of the Immaculate in Pozos de Santa Ana.
Teachers of Hope, a project that has been going on for more than 10 years in the Santa Ana area, led by the Parroquia de la Inmaculada in Pozos de Santa Ana. It is in charge of giving attention to the elderly, who are teachers of life. They receive health talks and other topics of their interest, in addition to carrying out activities that encourage participation, socialization and listening to this golden population.
