ARCORES and the Augustinian Recollect family. This is a historic meeting that brings together all branches of the Augustinian Recollect family for the first time. Convened by the Prior General of the Order, Fr. Miguel Ángel Hernández, this innovative gathering seeks to deepen the shared identity and mission of this religious family born in 1588.
In his convocation letter, the Prior General emphasized the need to “internally live the synodality proposed by the Church before promoting it externally.”
Celebration’s family
The event will include the participation of the Prior General and his Council, the provincial priors, vicars and delegates from all provinces, along with the superior generals and federal mothers of the female congregations linked to the Order: the Augustinian Recollect Nuns, the Augustinian Recollect Sisters, the Augustinian Recollects of the Heart of Jesus, the Augustinian Recollect Missionaries, the Augustinian Recollects of the Sick,the F ederal President of the Order of the Comendadoras of Santiago, recently associated with the Augustinian Recollect family and ARCORES, our social branch extended throughout the Order.
The program includes moments of shared prayer, presentations on key topics such as the transmission of charism to the laity, ongoing formation, and the revitalization of the charism.
Group work spaces have also been planned for the exchange of experiences and the identification of joint projects that strengthen family collaboration.
As part of these celebrations, on March 19, the solemnity of St. Joseph, protector of the Order of Augustinian Recollects, participants will make the jubilee pilgrimage to the holy door of St. Peter’s Basilica, thus gaining the Jubilee.
Fr. Miguel Ángel Hernández has highlighted the relevance of this meeting, stating that “although relations between the various Augustinian Recollect branches are generally positive, there is still room for improvement.” This historic meeting seeks precisely to consolidate unity and explore new forms of cooperation for the benefit of the common mission.
